Veterinarian
Hi! I'm Dr. Hillary Coulombe, and I am an associate veterinarian here at Glen Oak Animal Hospital.
Tell us about your career when you graduated college up until this point
I went to undergrad at Northern Illinois University, and then I went to veterinary school at Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine. I'm a 2017 grad.
Why did you choose to be a veterinarian?
I've always known I wanted to be a veterinarian since I was a little kid. I've always loved helping animals and it's just one of my passions.
What's your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is getting to help people and their pets. I really like working with senior pets and really helping them live the best life that they can.
What are some of your personal hobbies and interests?
I like to go camping. I like to go to street festivals and see concerts and hang out with my dog.
Please tell us a little bit about your work history in veterinary medicine
I started out working at a low-cost clinic in one of the Chicago suburbs. I then moved into the city and worked in a private practice for a few years and now I'm currently working full-time at a private practice in the city that sees exotics as well as dogs and cats.
What are some of your favorite things about veterinary care?
Some of my favorite things I would say again helping those senior pets just really live their best lives but then also getting to see the puppies and kittens and kind of the start of that new chapter for the families.
Can you tell us about any certifications that you have?
I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, and Fear-Free Certified so I can help with pets that are anxious, nervous, just don't generally like coming to the vet!
