Veterinarian
Dr. Deborah Mitchell is a graduate of the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine. Her passion for pets remains as strong as it was when she was a 6-year-old in a crumpled and dirty Sunday dress, being scolded by her Mom. Her Mom recalls telling her not to get all dirty by playing with strange dogs and cats, only to hear: “But Mama! They’re NOT strangers – they’re my friends!”
Dr. Mitchell feels just as privileged to care for your pets today. She still speaks the same dog, cat, and bunny languages she learned from her animal friends on those long-ago Sundays. Her medical focus remains on wellness maintenance, working with pet owners to provide the tools needed to keep pets vibrantly healthy and happy. She understands that for pet lovers, our pets are our family and dear friends. She is dedicated to practicing integrative medicine, blending her traditional Western medical training with the alternative therapies she has studied since 1993 to provide your pet with the best tools for healing and wellness. She has trained in Veterinary Acupuncture, Chiropractic Care, Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, Reiki, Bach Flower Remedies, Applied Kinesiology, Homotoxicology and more.
Dr. Mitchell and her spouse, Dr. Heather Hopkins, share their lives with a rescued terrier mix, 14-year-old Walter, from Homeward Bound Animal Rescue. In her spare time, Dr. Mitchell enjoys gardening, reading, kayaking, travel, and volunteering with the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
