Village of Morton Grove Fun Fact

Settled in the 1830’s, Morton Grove was relatively small in growth and stayed out of the national spotlight. In 1889, however, new industry came with the Poehlmann Brothers Company greenhouse business. Renowned for its roses, the company received national attention when its Poehlmann Rose received first prize at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. The brothers operated three plants in Morton Grove, employing between 300 and 500 workers.
